found my old knife inventory and had a moment

popped back into mm2 for the nostalgia and played a few rounds first. still good, still tense being the innocent when the sheriff is trigger happy and someone calls you the murderer for standing still. classic. then i opened my inventory. all the knives i traded for back in the day were sitting right there. i remembered exactly what each one cost me, the ones i grinded, the one i overpaid for because i was 13 and impatient. so out of curiosity i checked what theyre worth now and it broke my brain a little. everything shifted, stuff supposedly worth way more, stuff that fell off completely, a whole economy that kept moving without me. i wasnt even sad really, just kind of amazed this little pile of pixel knives has a market history i missed. closed the game, didnt trade anything. felt like it wouldve been rude to my past self.
