as a collector the unit pool is the hook. roll for the meta units, evolve them, fill out the roster, and theres a genuine endgame maxing a full team to push the hardest content. the tower defense underneath is solid too. only reason its not a 5 is the banner luck, completion is gated behind rng and that stings when youre trying to log every unit. but its a mountain of content and i keep coming back. 4.

under the hype its a perfectly fine tower defense. the problem is the game isnt really about the tower defense, its about rolling for units, and the whole thing is built to make you roll more. actual strategy takes a back seat to who got lucky on the banner. if gacha excites you, youll love it. i just wanted to play a td. 2.
the Extermination Event is exactly why i love this one. its anime tower defense, you roll for units and place them to clear the waves, and every event brings fresh units and banners plus new stages to actually grind toward. yeah the gacha luck can be rough, but the event content itself is so well made, new mechanics and not just a reskin. the devs clearly put real work into these events and it shows. im here patch one, and ill be here for part two the second it drops.
anime vanguards keeps me BUSY in the best way. rolling for units, leveling them up, building the perfect team for each stage, then an event drops and theres a whole new grind. the extermination event handed me a fresh list of things to farm and honestly i was thrilled. gacha luck can be a little up and down but theres so much to collect that i always have a goal in front of me. warmly recommend to anyone who loves filling out a roster.
textbook everything i made this account to call out. you ROLL for units out of a gacha, the meta ones sit on miserable rates, theres a luck gamepass so paying literally improves your odds, and the units you actually need are chained to limited banners that vanish so you fomo into spending right NOW. the tower defense under all of it is perfectly fine, which is the whole trick, its decent gameplay wrapped around a slot machine pointed straight at kids. hard one star.
the tower defense half is genuinely fun, placing units and clearing waves with a team is a good time. but at its core its a gacha and the rolling wore me down. burned a mountain of luck chasing a meta unit and walked away with nothing, the banner FOMO is real and kinda stressful. great if you can ignore the pulls, rough if you cant. the rng really got me on this one.
as tower defense it plays fine, placing units and clearing waves is satisfying enough. but its a gacha at heart, you ROLL for units and the rates on the meta ones are rough. the banner fomo every event is real and if you dont pull the good unit youre kinda cooked for endgame. i grind it during events but the luck dependency drags it down for me. mid tier gacha td honestly.
anime vanguards is my comfort game fr. its anime tower defense where you roll for units and set them up to clear the waves, and that moment the screen flashes for a secret unit is pure adrenaline. all the units are cute anime homages and building a team to melt a boss wave feels amazing. the events keep it fresh and heres the thing, you can totally have a blast without spending a dime, i just enjoy the grind with friends. the community is so hype for each others pulls too. 5 stars, i love this one to bits.
the tower defense part is genuinely fun, placing units, building a comp, clearing waves, i actually like the strategy of it. problem is you dont EARN your units, you roll for them. its gacha. the meta units live on banners behind luck, and the banners run on fomo timers so youre pressured to roll now now now before the good one leaves. f2p you can grind currency to roll, sure, but a spender pulls the whole meta comp in an afternoon while youre farming a week praying rng smiles. the strategy game underneath deserves better than a slot machine bolted to the front of it. 2. fun to play, painful to progress fairly.
anime vanguards is fun when your luck is good and pain when its not. its an anime tower defense, you roll for units and place them to clear waves, and the meta chase is real, a top tier carry trivializes content while off meta units collect dust. i genuinely like theorycrafting placements and evolutions. but its gacha to the core and the banner FOMO is heavy, pulling for a meta unit can eat your entire luck stat. get carried by a lucky early meta unit and youll love it, if not the wall is rough. 3, cool units, rough rolls.
anime vanguards is my favorite kind of comfort game, anime tower defense where you roll for units and place them to clear the waves. not gonna lie the gacha rolling is addictive in the fun way, that moment the screen flashes for a secret unit and you lose your mind is unmatched. the units are all cute anime homages and building the perfect team to melt a boss wave is so satisfying. events keep it fresh and there is always a new banner to chase. yeah there is some luck and banner fomo, but you can absolutely have a blast without spending, i mostly just enjoy the grind with friends. so much passion in this one. 5/5
the units and the gacha are fun but this really isnt an afk game. every stage wants you actively placing and upgrading, and theres no offline progress at all. i can macro the story runs but the second theres an event you have to actually sit there and play it. good tower defense, wrong genre for an idle guy. 3
content volume's fine — big unit roster, evolutions, the extermination event gave me stuff to chase. problem is the core loop is just roll the banner and pray. as a collector i want the full unit index but half of it is locked behind luck and limited banners that rotate out, so a true 100% isn't even possible if you missed a wave. meta also swings every patch so your maxed units get benched. it's a 3. functional gacha TD, not built for completionists.
anime vanguards is a gacha wearing a tower defense costume. the actual td underneath is fine, unit placement and abilities matter, but thats not the point and everyone knows it. the point is the banner. limited units, rate up on a countdown, luck potions in the shop, the whole mobile fomo playbook copied line for line. you can roll f2p but the meta units sit behind rates tuned to make you buy luck, and every event dangles a leaves-forever unit to rush you. fun for a week until you clock that its a slot machine that happens to have enemies on the screen. 2.
the unit roster and the evolutions look like a completionist dream on paper. problem is your collection is gated behind banner luck and the FOMO on limited units is rough. i can grind for weeks no problem, thats fine, but rolling and praying isnt content, its a slot machine. the actual tower defense and the game modes are genuinely good once you have the units. 3, the depth is real but its locked behind RNG i cant grind my way past.
