Noong nakaraang linggo, isang tunay na bagong manlalaro ang lumitaw sa tabi ko sa unang dagat, halatang naligaw, paulit-ulit na nakakasalubong ang parehong mababang level na kalaban at paulit-ulit na namamatay. Imbes na iwan ko lang sila doon, bumagal ako at tinuruan silang dumaan. Sinabihan silang tigilan ang panic sa pagkain ng prutas at unahin ang pag-level up ng espada, ipinakita kung saan ang mas madaling quests, ipinaliwanag kung bakit palagi silang napapapatay. Sa pagtatapos ng session, naabot nila ang antas na naipit sa kanila ng isang buong oras at ramdam mo talaga kung gaano sila kasaya. Idinagdag nila ako bilang kaibigan pagkatapos. Sa totoo lang, iyon ang dahilan kung bakit ako naglalaro ng mga malalaking laro, nagsimula kami sa isang lugar at may isang tao na bumagal din para tulungan ako. Ang pagbibigay ng suporta ay ang pinakamagandang bahagi ng isang komunidad tulad nito.

last week a genuinely new player spawned in right next to me in the first sea, clearly lost, kept running into the same low level enemy and dying over and over. instead of just leaving them there i slowed down and walked them through it. told them to stop panic eating fruits and just level their sword up first, showed them where the easier quests were, explained why they kept getting bodied. by the end of the session they hit a level theyd been stuck under for a whole hour and you could genuinely feel how happy they were. they added me as a friend after. thats honestly the whole reason i play these big games, we all started somewhere and someone slowed down to help me once too. paying that forward is the best part of a community like this one.
