the doors iceberg: everything the hotel doesnt want you to know
everyone asks what doors is actually about, so here is the iceberg the way i read it.
surface level, its a haunted hotel, you open numbered doors, entities kill you, you run for door 100. fine. go one layer down and the entities stop feeling random at all. rush and ambush move like theyre patrolling a route. seek doesnt chase you so much as guard something. the eyes on the walls blink even when nothing is happening.
deeper still is the guiding light. it helps you constantly but never once shows itself, and the curious light hints there was some kind of falling out between whatever these two things really are. why would lights argue. because theyre not lights. theyre whats left of the people who ran this hotel long before you ever checked in.
and at the very bottom, you are not the first guest and you will not be the last. the hotel resets. every run is a loop, every death folded back into the walls. the figure in the library isnt reading, its listening for footsteps it already memorized. i dont think you escape at door 100. i think you join the staff. thats my read and im holding it until the devs prove me wrong.
