not gonna lie this is the most polished thing on my list. AO isnt a fast combo game, its a proper rpg, you build a magic or fighting style and sail around doing story and bosses. the build variety is real and the sea battles hit different. its just slower than what i usually grind, less about clapping people 1v1 and more about the whole journey. respect the craft tho, vetex cooked. if you want depth over quick pvp this is the pick.
Arcane Odyssey [Dragon Update]
About this game
**This game has thousands of items and textures so 6 GB+ RAM is recommended** **Keyboard + Mouse Required to Play** ** Dragon Update Patch Notes: https://devforum.roblox.com/t/ao/4615115 ** Embark on an epic journey through the War Seas, taking part in the conflicts of kingdoms and organizations striving for power. Many will die, but only the strong survive in this harsh, magic-polluted world. Conflicts are high as the many kingdoms wage war over possession of Curses, powerful artifacts which grant the user immortality and great power. After defeating great rulers and psychopaths for what you believe is the greater good, you leave yourself questioning what your true purpose in this world is. Fight against other players, or team up with them and rule the seas as a clan, capturing islands, building castles, and becoming more infamous. Since you were born a mage, you have the option of mastering your magic, or dropping it entirely in favor of fighting styles, weapon mastery, and more. (Description fetched from Roblox.)
arcane odyssey honestly floored me. sailing out across a real ocean, building your own mix of magic, weapon and fighting style, stumbling into story quests and boss fights that make you actually learn your build, it all feels so lovingly handmade. you can tell this team pours their heart into it. my one gentle idea, and its a small one, would be a touch more direction for brand new players in the opening hours, a few friends felt a little lost before it clicked for them. once it clicks though its pure magic. rooting so hard for this team, a very happy 5.
fine, this is the one on the list where somebody actually built a game instead of chasing a hashtag. real open world, a real story, a combat system with actual depth and no gacha. credit given. its also slow as treacle, the sailing eats your whole evening and the combat is clunky before it clicks. so not the second coming everyone screams about, but genuinely competent, which around here counts as high praise. 3.
if you want proof a roblox game can feel premium without treating you like a wallet, its this. a full open world magic rpg, sail the sea, build a fighting style, fight real bosses through a real story, and the monetization is basically nothing. no power for sale, no gacha, no event countdown screaming at you to buy luck. vetex just built a good game and let you play it. the grind is long and the combat can feel clunky, but im rating how they treat a f2p player and its the best on this whole list. 4.
i added this because its the deepest rpg on roblox right now and its not close. AO gives you real build theorycrafting, you pick magics, weapons and fighting styles and your stat point allocation actually matters. the map is huge, the story is genuinely long, and the boss fights are tuned instead of just being damage sponges. i keep multiple files maxing different builds and each one plays completely differently. sea battles, treasure hunting, reputation systems, theres content for hundreds of hours. if you like completing everything and optimizing a build this is the one. vetex respects your time by giving you actual goals instead of a hollow rebirth loop.
okay arcane odyssey genuinely swept me off my feet. the ocean to sail, the story quests, building your own magic and fighting style combo, the boss fights, its all so lovingly made and you can FEEL the passion in it. one tiny gentle suggestion from a fan, id love if respeccing your stats was a little cheaper so its less scary to experiment with builds, because half the fun is trying new things. but honestly thats a nitpick on something i adore. the dragon update was gorgeous too. rooting so hard for this team, easy 5.
as someone learning lua this game is humbling. the magic system where you pick a base magic then layer a fighting style and a weapon on top, and it all scales off your stat build, is genuinely clever design. thats a huge web of modules talking to each other cleanly, damage, status effects like burning and freezing, magic clashes. sailing is real physics too, your ship takes plank by plank damage. the whole ocean is basically seamless so the streaming is doing heavy lifting. i notice frame dips in the big war seas fights and some ability hitboxes feel generous, but for the scope one team pulled off, this is the bar. studying how they structured it.
honestly the most mobile tolerable of the anime games here. its more exploration and pve so youre not getting out aimed in twitchy pvp every second. that said the magic aiming on touch is clunky and the menus are heavy, lots of tapping through inventory and build screens with small text. the big open ocean also drains my battery quick and i hit frame drops in busy areas. playable on phone if youre patient, just not optimized. a 3, it runs but the touch ui needs real work.
Arcane Odyssey is the RPG that showed me how much depth roblox can hold. you sail an actual ocean, pick a magic and build around it, and the story quests plus bosses feel like a real adventure. sea battles in a storm are unreal. hats off to the devs, this is a labor of love and it shows in every corner
