What is Roblox?

A plain-language introduction to Roblox — the platform behind every game we review.

Roblox in one paragraph

Roblox is a free online platform where millions of games and worlds — Roblox calls them experiences — all live inside a single app. You make one account, then jump between role-playing towns, obstacle courses, tycoons, shooters, pet simulators, and social hangouts, all built by other people. It is less like a single game and more like a whole app store of games that you can play instantly, together with friends.

Because anyone can publish an experience, there are a staggering number of them — far too many to keep track of on your own. That is exactly the gap ROBLOXREVIEW fills: honest reviews and ratings so you can tell what is worth your time.

Millions of experiences

One app holds a huge, ever-growing library of worlds to explore — from tycoons to horror to hangouts.

Made by the community

Creators build every experience with the free Roblox Studio tool, so the games keep evolving.

Play together

Most experiences are multiplayer — you can join friends and meet new people inside the same world.

Robux currency

Roblox has its own virtual currency, Robux, used for optional extras like avatar items and passes.

Plays on any device

The same account works across phones, tablets, computers, and consoles — pick up where you left off.

Built with safety tools

Account settings and parental controls help manage chat, spending, and screen time for younger players.

Experiences, not just “games”

On most platforms a “game” is one finished product. On Roblox, an experience can be a racing map, a virtual pizza shop you run with friends, a horror escape room, a fashion runway, or a hangout that behaves more like a chat room with mini-games. Some are polished and huge; others are tiny experiments. The variety is the point — and the reason two experiences with the same genre tag can feel completely different.

Where the games come from

Every experience is made by the community using Roblox Studio, a free tool for building worlds and scripting how they work. Creators range from solo hobbyists to full studios, and the most popular experiences are updated constantly. Because the games are made by people rather than one company, quality varies a lot — which is why player reviews are so useful.

Robux and the virtual economy

Roblox has its own virtual currency called Robux. Players can spend it on things like avatar clothing, accessories, or extra items and passes inside an experience. Many experiences are free to play and simply offer optional purchases. On ROBLOXREVIEW we never ask for payment and never handle Robux — we only review the experiences themselves.

Playing safely

Roblox is used by a very wide age range, including a lot of younger players, so it offers account settings and parental controls for things like chat, spending, and screen time. If you are a parent, it is worth setting these up together with your child. On our side, ROBLOXREVIEW asks reviewers to keep posts free of personal information and follow our community guidelines.
