who is the guiding light, really? a doors theory
the guiding light is the most important character in the entire game and it never speaks a single full sentence. so look at what it actually DOES for you.
it gives you the closet to hide in. it flickers a warning right before rush comes tearing down the hall. it hands you revives and knobs when youre one hit from losing everything. thats not a neutral hint system, thats somebody quietly rooting for you to make it out.
heres my theory. the guiding light is a former guest who got further than anyone else ever had, then got stuck at the very end, and now it spends every single loop trying to walk the next person out because it could never save itself. the curious light, the pink one, is the same kind of entity that made the opposite choice, it started helping the hotel instead of the guests. two people, same trap, opposite answers. thats why one warns you and one taunts you. the hotel didnt make its monsters out of nothing. it made them out of guests who finally stopped running.
