gonna be real about anime vanguards for a sec because the meta talk online is cope half the time. the game lives and dies on your units, a top tier carry solos content that off meta units cant touch no matter how clean your placement is. positioning and evolutions matter, but a bad unit is a bad unit.
i hoarded rolls for weeks for a limited banner because the featured unit was cracked, aoe that shreds plus dot that scales into the late waves. went in with a fat stack of currency, popped my luck boost, and got nothing. wave after wave of dupes and units i already had maxed. meanwhile a friend pulled it in like five rolls on the same banner. gacha is a cruel science.
if youre f2p my honest advice is dont chase every banner, pick the ONE unit thats actually meta defining and hoard for it, spreading your rolls thin is how you end up with a box full of mid. fully evolve your best carries before you even think about a new one. the theorycrafting is the fun part for me, the rolling is just the tax. i still love the game, i just needed to vent about that banner.
