how i almost got scammed for a neon frost, and how you never will

two years in the adopt me market and i STILL almost lost a neon frost dragon last month, so learn from me. this guy messages me wanting to buy it, offering two fr dragons plus adds, and the values lined up close enough that it looked fair.

we open the trade and he starts putting pets up, canceling, re-adding, trying to get me to hit accept while the window flickers. classic overlay scam, they count on you accepting during the animation when you cant actually see what got locked in. i backed out and blocked him.

three rules i live by now. one, never trust trade, if they cant put it in the trade window its a scam, no exceptions ever. two, check current values before you log on, because they move daily and a stale number is exactly how you get robbed. three, if someone rushes you, the rushing IS the scam, just walk away. the economy here is the best on roblox but its full of sharks. slow trades are safe trades.

thank you for writing this all out, the trade scams genuinely scare me. i mostly just decorate and raise my pets but ive had sketchy dms too. staying careful because of posts like this one

thank you for posting this, a neon frost is way too precious to lose to a smooth talker. i always make people go first and never touch the trade screen til im sure. protect your pets everyone!!

good on you for writing this out. scam tactics havent really changed in ten years, only the items being stolen. always read the trade window twice before you confirm.

textbook. the lemme-hold-it-to-prove-trust line is the oldest one in the book. rule i give everyone: never hand over first, always use a known mm, and if theyre rushing you thats the tell. glad you clocked it in time.

textbook. rule i live by: never trust an add first, always run a middleman you both vouch for, screenshot every window. a neon frost is worth the extra two minutes of paranoia every single time.

see this is what i mean about coming back to a different game. i left when trading was just kids swapping pets for fun, now theres scam scripts and middlemen and value discords. glad someone still posts the warnings.
