why your boat keeps exploding, a weld physics rant

every build a boat player has watched their masterpiece disintegrate halfway down the course and i finally get why. the whole game runs on unconstrained roblox physics, every block is a real physical part welded to its neighbors. that welding is the charm, you snap blocks together and it just works, but its also the ceiling. stack a few hundred parts and the physics solver is doing an insane amount of math per frame, so your framerate tanks and the welds start failing under load. hit a wall or a lava jet and the force propagates through the joints until something snaps and the whole thing ragdolls apart. its not a bug exactly, its physics being asked to do too much. i love it to death but from an optimization view its duct tape all the way down. if i ever build something like this im capping part count hard and faking half the physics.

ok i have watched SO many of my builds fold in half at the first wave lol, this explained it perfectly. the weld physics is the whole charm and the whole heartbreak at once. honestly you understanding the why already puts you ahead of most builders, love this.
