a salty little guide to mutation hunting

since people keep asking how i get so many rainbow crops in grow a garden, here is my not so secret method and also my suffering. mutations come from the weather and the events, so rule number one is you plant RIGHT before a big event hits, not after it has already started. rain gives you the wet mutation, and then if a storm or one of the special weathers rolls through on top of that, you can stack mutations and thats when you get the gold and rainbow versions that sell for a fortune. i keep a big plot of my highest value seeds sitting ready and just wait, refreshing like a little gremlin. now the salty part. the good mutations are still rng on top of the weather, so you can do everything right and watch half your plot mutate beautifully while your single best crop stays completely plain. i have had gold apples print me money and i have had a full rainbow event pass right over my legendary seed and hand me nothing. that is the game. stack your odds, plant before the weather, save your rarest seeds for guaranteed event windows, and accept that the rng will still break your heart every now and then. happy farming, may your crops go rainbow.
