the server that hyped up a total beginner
i logged into jujutsu shenanigans one evening just to mess around and ended up in a lobby with one player who was clearly brand new. they kept whiffing their moves and getting bopped, but instead of anyone flaming them, something really wholesome happened. a couple of us just started typing little tips in chat, like how to chain a basic combo, when to pop your domain, how to dash out of a ragdoll. this new player started actually landing hits and you could feel their excitement through the screen, they were typing OMG I DID IT after every combo. by the end of the session the whole server was basically a little training class, higher level players taking turns sparring gently so the newbie could practice. nobody had to do that, we were all just there to have fun, but it felt so good to pass it on. that is the thing about the anime game community right now, its so welcoming, everyone remembers being the new person who couldnt do the combos yet. i left that lobby smiling. these games are always better when the people in them are kind.
