Apocalypse Rising 2 trifft das Gefühl einer bereits untergegangenen Welt perfekt – den Nebel, die ausgeweideten Städte, das angehaltene Gefühl, wenn man ein Gebäude plündert und nicht weiß, ob sich schon ein weiterer Überlebender darin befindet. Als Überlebensplünderer liefert er ab. Aber für jemanden, der für die Hintergrundgeschichte auftaucht, gibt es einfach nicht viel unter der Oberfläche, die Atmosphäre ohne Erzählung, man sammelt und PvP, und das ist die Schleife. Die Welt deutet auf einen Zusammenbruch hin und sagt dir dann nie ein einziges Wort darüber, wie oder warum. Eine neutrale 3, sie ist genau gut in dem, was sie sein will, sie ist nur nicht das tiefgründige Geheimnis-Überleben, das ich versuche.

Apocalypse Rising 2 absolutely nails the feeling of a world that already ended, the fog, the gutted towns, the held breath when you loot a building not knowing if another survivor is already inside. As a survival looter it delivers. But for someone who shows up for the lore, there just isn't much beneath the surface, it's atmosphere without a narrative, you scavenge and you PvP and that's the loop. The world gestures at a collapse and then never tells you a single thing about how or why. A neutral 3, it's good at exactly what it sets out to be, it just isn't the deep-mystery survival I chase.
